Zutterin' at CHA

I am finally back home from all the fun at CHA and wanted to post my pics here for you. Of course the best part was the Zutter booth!

I LOVE all the new Cover-Alls and the Perfect Closures. During the show I took a couple of the leather straps for the Perfect Closures to the Rit Dye booth and had some fun dying them different colors - they turned out great! There are just so many creative possibilities for using and decorating our Perfect Closures.

Our make n take for the show was designed by our very own Nan Paturzo featuring Teresa Collins papers in a 3x4 Cover-All book and closed with our Perfect Closures. I helped make-n-takers set the rivets to attach the Perfect Closures to the Cover-All and to attach a flower to the front of the book. Here is what the sample looked like:

Several men came through the make n take line and one really stood at out to me. He wanted to layer multiple flowers and attach them with the rivet. Most people were layering two or three flowers but that was not enough for him. He wouldn't let me take his picture (hehehe) but he let me take a pic of his book:

Can you believe the rivets held that many flowers!! That is just so cool!! I am totally inspired to diecut some felt flowers and try them out with the rivets - I bet they will hold those flowers down like magic! And the reason I am saying felt flowers is because I love them but they are such a pain to adhere to anything - glue dots don't stick well and wet glue takes forever to dry. I'm thinking I'll attach the flower with a rivet and then glue a button on top of the rivet or something like that. Possibilities!

Three new releases at the show were the Spinner Album Kit, Display-It-All, and the Bind It All Around the World Idea book.

The Spinner Album Kit was designed by Vicki Flinchum, a member of our Design Team and the winner of the Idea Book contest. It is an awesome alternative to the 7Gypsies ATC Carousels as it retails for $24.99 and includes the tabs, pages, base, and binding wires. I love that the base is wood because that can be decorated too!!

Here is the Spinner Album Sample:

And this is what comes in the kit:

The Display It All is a black metal stand that any album can be attached to in order to display it vertically. I have visions of calendars, vertical recipe books, family member flip albums...there are so many possiblities as far as what can be displayed on the Display-It-All. And I definitely am thinking of picking up some spray paint and rub-ons to have some fun altering the base of the stand.

Above are some samples of books mounted on the Display-It-All. Below is my fave sample that Nan made using some Prima goodies - Love it!

And finally, the Idea Book!! I of course am excited because I have FOUR projects in the book but there are so many different designers with such amazing talent in the book that you will certainly love it too. The inner pages flip out in sections to reveal even more details about each binding project that is featured. Each artist included special notes about their projects and how they created them so that anyone can take those ideas to fashion their own projects. The best part is the book is bound with the Bind-It-All AND it is housed in a Cover-All. It's like a getting a free sample project with your book!

Some of the designers were at the show, such as Donna Salazar and Nan Paturzo, so here are some pics of us with the book:

Happy Nan!

CHA SheNANigans!!

We have been having lots of fun at CHA in Anaheim this week. Tomorrow is the last day....and yes, my feet are sore. But it is so great to meet our retailers, designers and Bind-it-All friends from around the world!

This is how the booth looks at one end. We have a nice wall of product displays and a whole host of roll-up floor banners with the specials and product features. This banner shows the THREE new products at this show....BIND-IT-ALL AROUND THE WORLD idea book, the DISPLAY-IT-ALL mini album display stand (I will blog on that soon), and the SPINNER ALBUM KIT. All the new items are shipping in March (actual shipping date may vary!!)

There is lots of excitement for BIND-IT-ALL AROUND THE WORLD, and it was fun to have some of the designers see their projects in print -- in the ONE copy we have on display...and it was tied to the wall so it couldn't walk away!

Donna Salazar of Prima has three projects in the book!

This is Jennifer Priest of the Zutter Zisters BIA DT - she helped demo at the show too!

Sally Lynn MacDonald is a long way from home in Connecticut; she has a project in the book, and is on the Zutter Zisters BIA DT.

This is Helena, a retailer in Sweden. She isn't in the book, but she KNOWS our Zutter Zister BIA DT member Jenny Svensson in Sweden, who IS in the book! We both love Jeja!! Yeah Jenny!!

This is Faye Warriner of Nevada - she has two projects featured in the book!

And, if you can't tell from the looks of these pictures. I very rarely take a photo that is serious.....just seriously goofy. If you can't have fun at "work" (wait....is this really work??? nooooo!!), then why bother. It's always fun at Zutter!

More soon!

CHA Sneak Peek! Spinner Album Kit!

Take your custom binding projects for a SPIN!!!!This is one of the new products we are introducing at CHA this week in Anaheim. It’s so COOL for a lot of different reasons! But without further delay….this is the SPINNER ALBUM KIT!!

It is a completely customizable spinner album, on a completely customizable wooden spinning base. The album itself is bound together with the Bind-it-All, using the large 1 ¼” Owire, which fits over the dowel in the center. It is so fun to put together and has endless creative possibilities. Take a look at the video .

Isn't it AWESOME!!?!?!? The kit comes with an unpainted wooden base with dowel, 10 - 4X4 tabbed chipboard pages, 10 - 4X4 square chipboard pages, 40 pages 4X4 white cardstock, and a length of Zutter Owire. YOU take it from there and make an album to suit a theme, room decor or your mood. What fun!!

Now, another reason why this is so cool is because this kit is based upon the winning project in the Zutter project contest by Vicki Flinchum, one of our current Zutter Zisters Bind-it-All Design Team members. Vicki entered the contest long before she was part of the DT. Her project won over the judges, selecting her as the grand prize winner of the contest, and her project (and four of her other projects) are featured in the upcoming Bind-it-All Around the World Idea book. The picture above is how it appears in the book. Now the Spinner Album Kit will be one of the new releases at CHA – AND her project is featured on the product packaging. We are so proud of Vicki and pleased to have her on the creative team!

Ok, Vicki….you can bask in your glory and talk all about it now! Poor thing has had to keep it a secret up until now!!!

Watch for the Spinner Album Kit in your local stores and on our website. Coming soon…..

Make It "Yours"!

Not that it wasn't cute enough, but how about making your Bind-It-All even cuter?!

I was recently cutting some vinyl on my electronic diecutting machine and had an idea to cut some items to decorate my Bind-It-All. I cut my name and some little daisies and voila!

I put some daisies on the back and sides. I think I will fill in the rest of this area with some crystals or maybe some more daisies.

This way I know it is "mine". This font is LD New Arrival Bold.

I plan to add some pink and black Swarovski crystals too at some point. And then there is the blue Bind-It-All that needs some decorating love as well!

Now I can make personalized mini books with my personalized Bind-It-All! And I'll never be confused about which one is mine when at crops or classes. Here are some other ideas for decorating your Bind-It-All:
  • Stamp it with Staz-On
  • Apply stickers or other decals
  • Make your own vinyl shapes like I did
  • Crochet or sew a cute cozy for the handle
  • Apply bling to the handle and outer machine
Happy Decorating and Binding!

Sneak of Make 'n Take at CHA

Make sure you stop by our booth at CHA this coming Sunday! We are making 3X4 Curved Spine Cover-Alls! This project showcases all the Zutter tools - the Bind-it-All, the Dreamkuts, the Round-it-All and the Rivet Setting tools (see the video below). We also give the Perfect Closures a spotlight on the project. The inside pages are made with some of Teresa Collins' new release patterned paper, and her cute new stamps grace the cover. See you there!

You'll Be Riveted!

Finally got around to shooting the video for Zutter's Rivets and Rivet Setting Tools. Be sure to give the video a view and let us know what you think! You can check out all the Zutter videos on You Tube and the archived video blogs here.

We will be "ZUPER" busy getting ready for the Craft & Hobby show next week in Anaheim. It's nice that the show is in our own "backyard!" And YES!!!!! We are launching some exciting new products that we are anxious to start sharing. Check back soon to get some sneaks of the new stuff in the coming days! This is a journal I made for the Rivet Video. I attached the chipboard letters to the Cover-All with rivets....I think it looks muy cool. I am using this "color journal" for the Copic Marker Certification class next week at CHA. I can't wait to incorporate real professional color markers in my scrappin'!

By the way, it is crazy HOT in Southern California right now, which I know is incredibly unfair of me to gloat about since much of the U.S. is experiencing record cold. It was all I could do to not crank up the AC today. Instead we went around the house in shorts and tank tops. We are sleeping tonight with the windows wide open to get a bit of breeze. Ahhhhhh!

Have a great week!

Bind-It-All Everywhere!

Ms McScrappy Had A Bind-It-All

Ms McScrappy had a tool,
B-I, B-I, A,

And with that tool she made a book,

B-I, B-I, A,
With a Bind-It-All here
And a Bind-It-All there,

Here a Bind,

There a Bind,

Everywhere a Bind-Bind,

Ms McScrappy had a tool,
B-I, B-I, A!

Okay, so maybe I should give up song writing but seriously, Bind-It-All is EVERYWHERE!!

Check out the book by Jamie Harper on the cover of Creating Keepsakes' February 2009 issue, in stores now:

She used pink chipboard covers and paper from Teresa Collins which are made to work perfectly with the Bind-It-All and the DreamKutz from Zutter. And of course the red Zutter O-wires coordinate perfectly with the "love" theme of the book.

Also, there are TWO projects that made the finals for the Quickutz "Deck the Halls" Contest!!

The first project is from Christine of Collective Journey scrapbook store in Redlands, CA:

She created a book for the 12 days of Christmas for her husband. She worked in envelopes between the pages to hold a different gift card for each day before Christmas. Just goes to show that you can really create any custom project for whatever your heart desires using the Bind-It-All.

The second project is from Jennifer Priest. That's me!! Woohoo!! I am so happy to have made the finals with my "Be Jolly" book! Here it is:

This is a graduated book I made using alternating pages of acetate and chipboard. I taught this book as a class at Collective Journey as well as at Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks. I love that I can create a custom book, mixing various materials. There is no book on the market like this but with the BIA I could make one myself.

Voting for both of these projects is going on now so please be sure to vote every day on the Quickutz site for your favorite project (please pick mine! LOL). On January 22 Quickutz will choose the 3 projects with the most votes to win so please help make the Bind-It-All projects win!!

Thanks for reading!

So much more than mini books...

Most of us get the Bind-It-All to be able to make mini books, and so did I, of course. But there's so much more you can do with it if you think outside the box, and I'd like to share a couple of projects with you today.

When my son moved into his rebuilt room, I made him this row of streamers to hang on his wall. I put ovires in the top of them and pulled a ribbon through to hang them on the wall over his closet door.

Now it's my daughter's turn to have a room of her own, and since her room looks exactly the same as my son's, only reversed, I wanted to have something similar to hang over the closet door in there too, so I made this row of hearts with her name. I've bound the hearts together with owire on the sides on this one.
There are tons of stuff you can use the Bind-It-All for. What out-of-the-box-projects have you done with yours?
And don't forget, there's still time to post a comment on the previous post for your chance to win some cover goodies!

Bind-it-All "Disco Ball"

Not a real disco ball, but one look at this Cover-All project from Jennifer Priest reminded me of both a disco ball and the ball dropping on New Year's Eve! Check out all that bling (you might need sunglasses!!) Gotta love it. Check out the supply list and details at Jennifer's Gallery. While you are at it, check out all the newest from the Design Team this month. It's sure to inspire and get you croppin' (it did for me!)
